Scottish ESEA Research Project - Artists' Questionnaire
  • Scottish ESEA Research Project - Artists' Questionnaire

  • Hello!

My name is Hannah Low and I am the current Dramaturgy Fellow at the National Theatre of Scotland as part of their new Change Making Programme, supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

Over the course of my fellowship I am conducting a self led research project that explores how the theatre sector can identify, empower and amplify East and Southeast Asian voices within Scotland’s cultural landscape, in partnership with ESEA Creatives Scotland.

This questionaire asks about your experiences as an artist with East or Southeast Asian heritage who is living, has worked, or is currently working in Scotland. Your insights will help build a clearer picture of how ESEA artists navigate the Scottish arts sector, and what changes or support systems could strengthen their practice, visibility, and access to opportunities within Scottish theatre.

You can take part whether you work in Scottish theatre regularly or occasionally, work primarily in another sector, practise a different artform, are studying in Scotland, or have recently graduated. Every perspective is welcomed and valued.

    Just so you know:
    • The survey takes about 5–7 minutes to complete.
    • Your responses are completely confidential.
    • You can skip any question you don’t want to answer.
    • At the end, you’ll have the option to sign up to take part in a short, voluntary 1-to-1 interview (online or in person).

If you have any questions or need the questionnaire in an alternative format (such as large print, translations, or audio), please contact me at: Hannah.low@nationaltheatrescotland.com

Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out this questionnaire! Your insight as an artist is invaluable to this research and plays a vital role in opening up conversations about how we highlight, support and celebratate the experiences and work of East and Southeast Asian artists in Scotland today.
